BRAKES...HELP

Postby SLICK VIC » Mon Feb 12, 2007 3:46 pm

SO HERES THE DEAL
master cylinder bolts perfectly in place.
if i pull back on the brake handle, i would be pulling
the rod out of master cylinder, what am i missing ?????
if i hook it all up i have brakes by pushing
brake handle forward in wrong direction.
heres some pics of assembly.

fuel shut off lever, gauges, etc... the guy
i got the car from had the car 1.5 years and did
nothing with it other than bought the motor and

I agree with Doc. Looks like a push brake. To change you would have to mount the master cyl. on the other side of the brake handle or move the pivot point down below the push rod.
Never used a push or a pull hand brake. I guess it's just all a matter of what feels comfy. :?: Maybe that's the way they stop over there. ????

Could be it was a pull brake over there. Sorta' like have'n nails with the head on the wrong end. ............ Just use 'em on the "other" side of the house.

Been a long day here.

Vic, there are a number of guys who think pushing is better than pulling. If you want to pull it, you need to tab the lower bar, move the handle down there and connect the brake linkage rod between your hand and the pivot point. :)

Thanks everyone on the input, i spaced out
on the idea of fixing the brake rod above the pivot point
on the brake lever.
Vega has rear brakes only,.. 4 piston wildwoods
with 11 inch wildwood floater rotors, nice stuff.
i just dont know if i could get use to pushing the
brake handle forward to stop...
