I'm with Randy on the pistons. I would use some dye penetrant to check for cracks and mic them carefully. Also check and make sure the piston to wall clearance is what is recommended by the manufacturer.
I check my pistons at the centerline of the pin, 90* from the pin. I also check them on the lower part of the skirt to make sure the skirts aren't collapsing.
As I said before, I wouldn't even consider using those rods.
Another thing I would do, and I'm sure you probably are already considering this, is to check the crank for cracks.

OK, here is the skinny,
The difference between the brooks 88 and the 65`s or the b-2`s
the 65`s are within standard stock lengths + or - .010
the 88`s are min. .600 longer, same with the b-2s

now in my case the difference between the
brooks 65`s and the 60`s,..is 32 years, same length.
the 60`s where a BRC 60, maufactured with a 2014 material
32 years ago. The 65`s, 88`s, and b-2`s
are a 7075 T-6 material.
