Leaf spring suspension geometry questions

Postby JoshH » Mon Sep 10, 2007 12:43 pm

Hey guys, I ran across this site the other day while doing a google search. There seem to be quite a few very knowledgable folks on here so I thought I would pose this question to see if any of you know or know where I can find the answer to these questions.

How do you find the instant center and anti-squat for a leaf sprung suspension?

How would adding traction bars affect those?

How can a leaf sprung suspension be dialed in to improve 60' times?

Thanks,
Josh

Welcome to the board Josh.

Coil springs here, but I'm sure somebody will be along shortly with leaf spring experience.

Just take a peek under a Stock Eliminator car with leaf springs. 9 times out of ten you'll find a set of Cal-tracs. Check it out at: http://www.calvertracing.com/info/info.htm

Hey guys, thanks for the welcome. I have seen Caltracs before. They are actually somewhat popular for my application, but they are one size fits all so to speak. I think I could make something that might be a little more effective if I could find out how to figure this stuff out, and I'm a DIY type of guy.

Nobody knows of a book or anything where I can find that information?

The Cal-Tracs aren't one-size-fits-all, they are set for a specific front segment length. One of the MOPAR chassis books will give you a good idea about leaf spring tune-ups.
