I need to add rotors to my weld 2.0 aluma stars HELP !!!

Postby go300mph » Tue May 06, 2008 9:12 pm

OK before you start laughing let me explain,
I have a pair of brand new Weld AlumaStar 2.0 , 1 pc. spindle mount wheels, 17", top fuel dragster type and I really want to use on my new J-60 jet dragster and need to add front disk brakes for staging purposes ONLY !!
Anyone have any ideas?
I want to keep the minimalist look and feel and keep the weight down so thats why I am even trying this.
I am tempted to drill spokes :?: and turn some bungs to bolt the rotor right up.

I'd be careful drilling the spokes.might make a stress point and they'll crack......is there enough meat on the hub of those to drill and tap them and maybe machine a small adapter plate to bolt the rotor to??.......if no i'd stay awayf rom drilling or cutting on the spokes........ERIK
I'm everything they say i am......I'm so bad......Baby i don't care!!!

I figure if I stress relieve when i chamfer the edges of the hole (ever so slightly).
No meat to speak of on the hub area.
I figure the hole in the spoke (swisscheesing) is my only real concern
anyone agree?
wish i would have taken advanced metalurgy courses

I'm not sure how a Pro Stock car mounts the rotor on their front ends or even Funny Cars for that matter, but that same technology would prolly work for your application.....(but that's just an un-edu-macated guess  )

they just go purchase rims set up to receive rotors I purchased the rims based on the look even though the rims don't have provisions for the mounting of the rotors. I have since designed and Weld/ American Racing and several others have approved , basically drill bush and bolt on .
I really want to keep the minimalist look and always try to be different.
