Thanks Jed. I've been using 20-50 Brad Penn, and someone suggested that you actually pick up a few ponies by using a synthetic oil.

we've tried a few synthetics over the years. Only success we've had is tearing up cylinder walls and pistons. did that a couple times with different brands and just went back to what works for us. I always figured it had to do with the ol sayin of never break in a motor with synthetic oil, use regular and with the low amount runs we put on drag motors, it was the same as breakin it in with it. who knows

when we ran superstock we used mobil one ,but we would run the motor in for a hour to break it in before any dyno time or track runs to get the rings to seat

I think the answer is "it depends"...

In our case, we drop the oil out at the end of each event, be it 3 passes or more...

With the Top Fuel car, we drop it every pass (of course).

In both case's we run Brad Penn. In the past the T/F car has run Amalie and Torco with no problems.

If you are running a carb'd gas engine, I would go with synthetic.
