"Mousie" could use thoughts and prayers...

Postby Diana The Doc » Wed Sep 12, 2012 5:21 pm

Reliable sources from the NITRO HEADS facebook group are reporting that Al "Mousie" Marcellus of "Winged Express" Nitro Altered fame is having hip related surgery today... Of course at this time we should all keep him in our thoughts and prayers... There's very few guys I know who have given so much to this sport, and have helped provide so many of us with such colorful and long lasting memories (over decades!)... Here's a photo I cherish of "Mousie" from when he towed his hairy Altered (with an old pick-up truck!) all the way from California to Englishtown a few years ago... "The Doc" (Celebrity Drag Racing Authority & Visionary)...

Please keep our buddy "Mousie" in your thoughts 'n' prayers...

Definitely one of my favorite people inside the sport and out. Good luck, Mousie! bp

Bill, I recall that when he was at E'Town, he was already having a problem walking around, and yes, anybody who really knows drag racing is aware that he's a favorite among many of us in the community -- When I spoke to him at the track, he was a lot more "reflective" than most, probably because the previous time he was in Englishtown was decades ago... And I never take for granted the class and true emotion he has for the sport, I mean, it's so evident that "Mousie" has his heart in the right place, look at the way he brings his old partner, "Wild" Willie Borsch's urn around with him to the drag races... Good News-- It's now reported that Al "Mousie" Marcellus is doing wonderful... The surgery went well... His new hip is in and he's expected to have a full recovery... However, I do understand the fact that the road ahead of physical therapy and healing is going to be tough... Thanks to all for your thoughts and prayers... "Mousie" appreciates it much... Jack, last I heard, Al "Mousie" Marcellus was doing good after his hip surgery... You might also be glad to know that I've heard from a member of the Vitale family, that the new owners of the bar on Englishtown Road (down the street from Raceway Park) have reached out to the Vitale family for their original pizza and other Italian recipes, so the Vitale family will be consulting with the new owners to make the latest metamorphosis of the bar/restaurant the kind of place that drag racing folks will feel comfortable at... I'm alright, though kind of busy with the music side of my life, however, I'm definitely still blogging articles at Drag Racing Underground (and I also have some great "guest journalists" like Jeanne Linke & others contributing to the blog in order to lift some of the workload off my shoulders, I'm very thankful for that!!) ... Bill asked me to post my blog/article updates in the "Links, Events & Products" section, but I believe there's some gremlins involved with that particular part of the site-- But I'll post updates once it gets up and running... Here's the general link to my Drag Racing Underground blog, so you can "bookmark" it, and always have easy access to reading my daily installments... Thanks... Bill, it truly is good news that the latest incarnation of the restaurant seems to be stepping in the right direction... We're all so gosh darn tired of seeing established businesses that were once so perfect and successful, fall prey to new owners who don't have a clue to how to run the business and keep it up to standards-- Fortunately, it appears this won't be the case for the Englishtown Road bar & restaurant... I look forward to once again being able to tell E'Town visitors and out-of-towners, when they ask me if there's a "good place" to go after the races, that there's a place on Englishtown Road where all their eating, drinking and hospitality needs can be fulfilled...
