Had a nice sleep in day today to get ready. Did a little work outside by the pool, took out the trash, etc. Getting ready to hit the road in the morning! bp

Well the car works...

Took it to Thompson's Gasser Reunion (ok... we're sort of an Extreme Gasser... right? ) for some test passes last weekend. Set the blower up at a whopping 11% over. First pass ran an 5.24 1/8 with a 1.14 60' leaving in high gear and blubbering it's way down the track on a really rich tune. Then we tossed a blower belt on the next burnout. Replaced the belt with an old abused one I had in the trailer, which gave up at 300' on the next pass. The first break we blamed being on the rev limiter in the burnout, the second to a belt that should have been thrown away a long time ago.

We (well mostly I :) ) decided that it needed more blower. One to use up the fuel, and two because tuning the fuel to that blower overdrive wasn't going to get us that deep into the 4's. I upped the blower to 30% over and gave it a little bit more fuel.

We took it to Thompson's Asphalt Wars race this weekend. Asphalt wars is a monthly heads-up 1/8 mile series that brings in some pretty stout pro-mod/top sportsmen style cars. Last month the bump to get into the 8 car show was 4.51.

First qualifying round Steve clicked off a 4.34 @ 164! It's still fat as a pig and doesn't sound like it's trying very hard, it just ran down through there and most of us couldn't believe the scoreboard. The car handles like a Cadillac and has a lot left in it.

Unfortunately the blower seized up at the end of the run  , so we didn't get to run the second qualifier or any rounds. But that run left us qualified 5th in a field with a 4.58 bump on only the second full pass on the car 8)

Blower's coming off tonight to see what's going on in there....

When we talked at Quaker City you told me that you really didn't want to go to fast at first so
it is a little like trying to slow down a Kentucky Derby winner isn't it? Glad to hear you have it
out and running. Hope there isn't too much carnage in the air compressor. Keep us posted. :D

You're right Jack, it is like trying to slow down the KY derby winner. The cool thing is that we can run events like the Asphalt Wars and Quick 8's with the thing set on sleep.

We pulled the air pump off of it last night and pulled it apart. It only galled the endplates, the rotors and case are still fine. That usually means that something foreign went through it; that causes the rotors to work against themselves and one will get the front endplate and the other will get the back plate. We should be able to clean up the galled areas and put it back together - might loose a pound of boost, but I don't think that'll hurt us much  .

You didn't suck a bird through the intake like the Blue Angels did one year at Burke Lakefront Airport did you? :(

I drove the beast this weekend - what a blast!
We ran the monthly Asphalt Wars event at Thompson. 18 cars showed up for an 8 car field.
I squeeked in to the field qualifying 8th with passes of 4.33 @ 165 and 4.34 @ 166
Ran the number 1 qualifier in first round, lost with a run of 4.33 @ 168 against his 4.21.

Going to the Blue Suede Cruise at Norwalk this weekend. Any of you guys coming?

Can't make the Blue Suede deal but will be at Quaker City on Sat. 26 as Solid Rock is
scheduled to run. We are going to try and stuff Sharon in the driver's seat of the
Mustang so we can get some pictures. She tried it last time at Quaker but was to
scared that she would damage something and he had to go up for a pass. Rocky told
her next time you are going in one way or another. If only I had bought a Lippy Lifter
when they were on sale????????
