Have fun, Gary! Have a great weekend, everyone! Brandywine VFD car show / Aquasco Dragway reunion was postponed until next Sunday.

I think Denise has a few chores in mind for me tomorrow! bp

Hellooooooo.

Back from Iowa. We stopped at the house to scope out the scope of the project. Scribbled a material list on a notepad and called it a day Thursday evening & Headed for the Hotel. Got back to the house at daybreak so we could get a running start on a project we hoped we could complete in 2 days. Cheryl's Brother helped, but stressed, he was a truck driver, not a carpenter. We made a good team though, I'd measure, cut the boards & tack them in place & he'd screw them down & do the grunt work. Things went so smooth, we had the deck & the steps done by nightfall on Friday, leaving just the balusters to install Saturday morning. Cheryl got a call from her Mom this afternoon as we were heading home, saying Vance & his Son stopped by in the afternoon and got all the scrap cleaned up and a few odds N ends organized around the yard. The steps are much safer now. Steps are about 14" wide with only a 5" riser, with railings on both sides and plenty of room on the deck to get the front door open. They were happy campers.

Getting done early, we decided to see a couple sites. Cheryl's Dad mentioned the annual Threshing Event was going on at Heritage Village a few miles away, so we checked it out. I got in there once to take a few photos of crews re roofing the church (hauled to the site 14 miles away). This place is a collection of stuff from the area, with historical significance. Pretty cool place on Threshing weekend.

No A/C, cabs, headphones or GPS on these old school units. BP, I have some duplicates in this post that I can't seem to delete? Had some in the post above this one too, but they're gone now. Maybe these will go away eventually too?

Morning. Gary, thanks for the photos and good on you for the porch project. I always enjoy your posts and pixs. Those pics of the old farm machinery and me being and old farm boy made me appreciate what we had when I was young what with gas engine tractors, electric elevators and such. No wonder the old farmers didn't live past 45 or 50 as their bodies were worn out by then. My dad was a machinist for Timken Roller Bearing and farmed a 100 acre farm on the side and I know he had 150 years on his 89 year body when he passed. Reminds me of you the way you work.
69/72 with the leftover remains of hurricane Florence starting to effect us today. We didn't get the lawn mowed yesterday as planned as we had to go to a birthday party yesterday afternoon and it was way too hot when we came home. Saturday we washed Sharon's Honda and super detailed it then tackled the Astro Van and got it fluffed and buffed and ready for sale. I had someone stop and inquire already with it just setting in the driveway and that puppy looks good. We are off to check out some vinyl fencing to to cover up the ugly AC unit in front of the church so that is the start of today's list of things to do. :D :D :D

Morning. 66/82 today, partly cloudy turning to sunshine in the afternoon. Yesterday Sharon did the washing while I prepped some meal stuffs for the day and on into the week after we killed several hours on the front porch with coffee and a sandwich. We headed out to the grocery store, stopped at AutoZone for some plug wires for my buddy's Comet, Lowes to get some new door lock sets for the house and the church to measure for some vinyl fencing I am installing. I called around for vinyl fencing and some of the prices were just crazy what with one place wanting $30 per post and one $60 per post and the panels themselves varying from $150 to $256. The dog is becoming really attached to Sharon since she has been home all the time now and is like her shadow as wherever Sharon is at so is the dog. I am low man on the totem pole now in the dog's eyes. I need to rekey the lock sets for the house to match the garage and the dead bolts in the house and called for an estimate that came out to $35 a lock. Looked online and I can buy a kit for about $20 so I will become my own locksmith for this project. We need to wash the railing on the front and back porch in preparation for staining them later in the week as that was to be our first project after Sharon's retirement. :D :D :D

Mornin'. 67.8°f sunny but muggy. I have a full plate from now until vacation time (24 days I 'hink it is ). And the chance of no new job requests in those few days is slim. I've come to the conclusion, I will do as much as I can to get everybody's projects done, but when it's time to go, it's time to go.

Morning. Yep Gary, family is more important then anything. Priorities, priorities, priorities.
68/83 today with rain showers over night and into this morning. Sharon and I did the coffee routine in the morning then went to the bank and stopped for a new rug for the back bedroom remodel. We came home and put the hanging flower pots back up as we had them soaking up the rain from the previous day then she started mowing the lawn as I washed the bed of the S-10 out as it was getting pretty dirty from the landscaping at the church. I then mowed the back yard and did some weeding as she finished up the front yard. It was really hot and muggy so we took a break and had some late lunch that included a nap as I had been up several times the night before. I can't seem to shut my mind off and when I wake during the night I start to think of things and it spirals out of control. Called for an appointment for my root canal yesterday and can't wait for that!!!!!!!!!! NOT. :D :D :D

Got a squad car done today & a stack of yard style signs for a 5k run next weekend. Got a banner done for Octoberfest which will be held while we're gone,I think. Got prints run for a couple 3'x16' wall signs. Mowed the lawn as it's supposed to rain the next couple days. looks like it could start anytime. Small group here tomorrow night. Things are pluggin' along. 23 days left to get caught up.

Still looks like rain, but nuttin' fallin' from the sky as of yet. Got the Trailer done today, and should have the 2-3'x16' signs assembled today. Big Brown Truck just brought the vinyl for the truck re-letter job. They said the last driver took the stripes off for no apparent reason. Go figure. I be puttin' 'em back on.
