I've had problems from time to time with reactions, but I've never had a problem of trying to figure out whether or not it was gonna be a .400 or a .500 tree before, but I guessed those wrong that day!
If you think it's exciting now, wait till we start it.

It's all just fodder for the rematch next year. The minute you guys left, the tower figured out that they had forgotten to reset the tree. They apologized immediately... but I said we are here for fun and no problem. The great thing was, HAD it been a pro tree, Lippy had enough on the tree to hold off the massive Chevy... SO... both teams have bragging rights of a sort for next year and there is only ONE way to solve it... a REMATCH!

PS -- We had a lot of fun staging the match race. The lane swap thing came about because we wanted the big Chevy behind the smaller dragster during our group shot against the tower... however, Mike liked the right lane (to see the tree!) and the Lippy liked the left lane... so that gave us an opportunity for a little play acting about swapping lanes. Once we took the photo, Mike and Lippy got into a 'heated' discussion about who was going to get which lane. I went up and attempted to moderate, and when I was 'unsuccessful,' I stomped off and threw my hat about 20 feet...

Finally, I went up to the tower to announce it and they lined up and raced. It was one HECK of a race, too, despite the bulb... BUT NEXT YEAR... LOOK OUT! bp

That was so much fun!! The only change I will make next year is I promise to shift into second gear. :D We were so close to a perfect race, the difference was .372 had he waited for me and the GREEN light.

I have no idea why I waited either. He cut a .4362 RED and I cut a .0642 GREEN. hmmmm

If all things had been equal he may have beaten me by .178, but that was not the case. HA!

Well, to tell ya the truth, although I wasn't driving in that race, so I can't qualify this, I personally wouldn't have had it any other way, from a Draglister's perspective, looking back on it...it was perfect...an open-ended "What if" situation, ya know, with more questions than answers at the end of it...and both cars ran like hell. That was all at once the greatest drag race I've ever seen, and the weirdest, both at once. Not many times will a race like that one happen...my opinion, from standing behind the starting line...I thought, well, how dadgum ironic is THIS!? You instantly start adding up the variables in your mind and the odds of such a strange incident as that...It must have been Alfred Hitchcock up there in the tower for that one...Cheers, WC1

Well, I missed all that starting line drama somehow, must have had my head in my camera. Anyway that's my story and I'm sticking to it.
