This year will be the 31st Indy, 25 in a row for me. A good friend of mine is working on 35 in a row for , and his cousin has been to every US Nationals except the first one.

BTW Perry, I could not open the link to see your images.

Have been going through some of the memoribilia that I brought home with me the last trip and found a "Souvenir Program" from 1974 (20th Anniversary). Seems as though it has some moisture damage but still great to look back and see how racing use to be :D

my 1st year at indy was '83, only missed 1 race.....the year my son was born. i was 11 the 1st time i went there, and will never forget it. me and dad walked in the gate on the spectator side. we had to walk all the way down the track along the stands to get to the pits. i just happened to look up in a tree around 1/2 track on the spectator side and there he was. there was a guy sleeping on 2 pieces of wood......in the tree! from what i remember they were 2"x6"'s. that just totally blew me away. dad said......don't go over there, he might fall outta that tree and kill ya

I forget what year's 79 & 80 or 80 & 81
The first trip was total hell breaking loose. A barn was burned to the ground, cars were turned over police cars at that etc!!
The next year was like being in a war zone state troopers, police cars and helicopters all over the place.
Me and my friends didn't partake in anything of that but we still had our share of fun. :)
I haven't been to Indy since the early to mid 90's
To many people, hate sitting in traffic plus the fact I make a terrible spectator. If I'm at a race I need to be working on something besides watching.
