I think the name of the song I was thinking of is "Livin in the USA" but can't remember who did it.

The song Barb is talking about is by the Medallions, it was called "Buick 59".
The year was 1954.

They also did such smash hits as, "Coupe De Ville Baby", "59 Volvo", "Pushbutton Automobile", and "Speedin'", along with many other songs in the mid to late 50's.

It's kind of weird that the song Buick 59 actually was written and released in 1954, five years before the car was made, but 59 Volvo came out in 1959. :?

Uh, that would have been "69" then, wouldn't it? Good find and great call on that, Mike! Cheers, WC1
PS: "Let It Roll" by BTO (or anything they did, for that matter!) cool song to go racing with...I'd bet Bill "Badco" Ott would know some very cool racing songs...
"Livin' In The USA" was the Steve Miller Band...1968...(engine revving up).."pulls out ahead of the Howard Cam Special, and....he TAKES IT! The winner...Lefty Mudersbach..."

8) cool info WC.. is there a way to link song clips to this thread ! directly so when a song is identified we can just click on it and listen to a few bars ? the little bit i heard of the Buick 59 song has me wondering. On the link Mike put up i tried to get the 1975 release of Blue Mist by Mama's Pride.. a local (st.louis metro area ) great song and i remember it sounded great in uncle Curts new Eldorado sound system so that song sticks with me forever.. Oddly enough years later when i met John the Plumber and were discussing great music one night he told me that he gave guitar lessons to Pat Liston (of Mama's Pride ) in the 60's... sorry for the yakkin' just slow today.. wonder why.... just the biggest drag race on the planet going on right now and i can't see it or hear it from here

Ever since I blew up my great Cerwin Vega speakers jammin to Chris Issac "Wicked Love" I don't get to listen to much music anymore and I can't afford to buy some more good speakers. Listened to others in my price range but they just didn't have the sound of my Vegas. Oh'well maybe one day. :)
