Evel WAS a party- and inspired impressionable teenliquents and grizzled loggers alike to get out to the left coast strips and enjoy memorable TF and Gas shows at the same time. He fit well, as Bill pointed out, with 'sinbin' vans, Allman Bros. tapes, National Lampoon Radio Theater and an overall sense that we had unlimited potential. 8)

He was one-of-a-kind...far beyond "tough"...many folks said he was crazy; maybe he was, but he was the ultimate death-defying daredevil. Nobody hung it out there like he did and survived. His image and his style were imitated but never equalled. It was something he created that realized a myth and he never failed to back up anything he said...Jim Rome replayed an interview he did with him earlier this year. He asked Evel, if you knew you were facing overwhelming odds that you were either going to die or be injured in some of your jumps, why would you even attempt to do those things? Evel said "Do you know who you're talking to?" Rest in Peace, Evel Knievel, and thanks for the thrills. WC1
