Tickle Me Pink

Here's where we go to kick back after the races with our pals. Pour a tall one, punch a few buttons on the jukebox, and relax...

Tickle Me Pink

Postby draglist » Sun Dec 23, 2007 8:07 pm

Just finished visiting with Denise's cousin Bunnie, her great husband Ron (a music lover of the nth degree), and their kids Annie and Steven. (Ron and Steven were two of the first people I sent Citykings CDs to and they loved it!) We got the great news that Steven's band Tickle Me Pink has been picked up by a record label and will begin touring in 2008, hopefully after cutting a second album. These guys are awesome and are as good as anything I've heard on the Indie/Grunge scene lately. They picked up Steven to add some additonal depth in guitar. This kid can rock! I would love to get him and Cat together for a jam session some time. Congrats to Steven on making his dreams come true. Here is a link to Tickle Me Pink's Myspace page (Steven is the one on the far right). Soon I'll be able to say that I know TWO rock stars! bp

I am very happy for Steven and TMP! Steven is very well-known in that region, and they've earned a very good handling deal with a reputable management company; their music and dedication will bear them out. I am also very glad to hear they liked the Citykings! Best wishes to Tickle Me Pink in their future adventures! This is great news! Keep us posted...but I already bookmarked their site...Cheers, WC1

Thanks, guys, and on top of it, he's the sweetest guy you can imagine. Absolutely NO ego and he is just enjoying everything. We all went out and had dinner at a place called Old Chicago's Friday night. They had great food and a great play list on the juke... Steven and I sat at opposite sides of a huge table, but whenever a great song came on we caught each other's attention and did a little mini air guitar session... he knows what's good and he's studied it all. I'm still really pumped for him. bp

Hey, gang. Here's little cousin Steven with Tickle Me Pink on a recent live video shot in his hometown of Fort Collins, Colorado. Steven doesn't appear until later in the vid. He's the guitarist on the far left. Cool... bp

The guys are ready to tour... they will be on the East Coast this year. There is a Baltimore stop so we will definitely be going... in sad news, one of the original band members was found dead in his room. There are no details yet, but sad, sad deal just after he fulfilled his dream of signing with a record label and about to go out on tour. bp

Oh, Jesus. I'm so sorry to hear that, BP. Those guys earned their way to the big leagues and then this happens. It happens a lot. Will they keep on and find a replacement, or just not replace him? I don't mean to come across as a cold-hearted guy...just curious to know. I send my condolences not only to his family but also to the band. One of the guys in our band died in November of last year. We were booked solid through the holidays and we had to keep going and didn't have time to stop and grieve for Herby. What I'm saying is their wheels are in motion now, the contract's signed and they're on their way. I wish them all the best. Good luck to all. WC1

Denise said that there is going to be a new guy. As a five piece band, there was no way to go out without a new guy. The band added Steven because they needed another guitarist to do some of the stuff live that they did in a studio by overdubbing. I'm not sure which position the guy played (bass, drums, or the other guitar). The lead singer has a pretty distinctive voice so I'm pretty certain it wasn't him. I guess I should go and see their website to get more details before I ramble on further... RIP to the young man. bp
