Dover Drag Strip

Postby Dino » Tue Jan 29, 2008 12:42 pm

There's a couple of sources to find info on Dover Drag Strip, where I announced from '65-'72. BUT...who's on this Forum from the Dover Crew???

Interesting...

Did you see what I posted at: http://www.draglist.com/stories/SOD%20D ... 122200.htm ...???

Have you seen Dennis C. Tate's excellent videos of transcribed 8mm footage from Dover...? You should talk to him about doing a "Voice Over"

I remember a track announcer there who went by the moniker of "The Goose" and drove a red Corvair with a custom paint job.

That's the guy (Goose) in the mid sixties that didn't show opening day.So they asked me to give it a try and I stayed through til about '73. Tate hasn't upgraded that much but over on www.jalopyjournal.com theres plenty of Dover stuff. Log into the "HAMB" forum and used the search feature for Dover Drag strip.

The "Goose"

Postby Maso » Tue May 13, 2008 7:10 pm

Attn: Draglist ... I have been in and out.

Attn: Dino ... You and George "The Goose" should talk Dennis into having you both do voice overs for that stuff. His existing sound track could remain in the background and the program would become a documentary.

I have been to Rockingham once with the "Backyard Guys" in October '06. They made a half track qualifying run for an IHRA dragster's licence. They made a very short burn-out because there wasn't much nitro in the drum.

What was the "Gooses" last name... was it Schneider... or something like that.

I'll go check out "Jalopy" like you say.

Dino... that picture that you posted over at the web site ( Schott Brothers from Carmel ) ... is the photo that I used to make the avatar that I am using here... I just crunched the aspect ratio a little...!

:D
