Tickle Me Pink

Here's where we go to kick back after the races with our pals. Pour a tall one, punch a few buttons on the jukebox, and relax...

That's good that they will continue; they're plenty good enough to. It doesn't make the loss any less of a burden, but once you've gotten there, it's a given that there is no turning back. The New York Dolls, The Average White Band, Smashing Pumpkins, Sublime, Mother Love Bone, No Doubt, The Allman Brothers, Canned Heat and Pink Floyd (Syd Barrett's brain died but his body was still alive in 1967...enter Dave Gilmour) come to mind first off. Getting a recording contract...a good one...is like winning the US Nationals...it is unfortunate that some are lost in that struggle. Most of my musician friends from years gone by have either died or quit. I kept playing. I can still feel them. Your young man will carry his buddy along this quest in his heart forever. He helped get them there and his soul will stay with them. The show must go on. WC1

The guys hired a bass player for the tour and will be going out. The investigation is still ongoing. The guys will be doing the East Coast later this year so we will definitely be going to see them in Baltimore. Can't wait for that. In addition, we will be visiting Colorado for Denise's parents' 50th anniversary in early August so I hope we will be able to see Steven there (on stage or just in his house). bp

Good news, and good luck to Steven. I'll be looking to see if they make it down here. It's not an easy business...but I believe if he can get through this first tour and learn the ropes first-hand, it will become a little easier each time. Thanks for the update. WC1

Hi everyone. Big news here. Tickle Me Pink is the featured artist on the front page of MTV2 today! They actually have a 'real live video' (not just concert footage). Check it out... nephew Steven is the guy hammering the guitar on the left (I know that his mom will say WE COULDNT SEE YOUR FACE WITH ALL THE HAIR IN THE WAY!)

Here is a link... not for everyone's tastes, but cool...

Click on the link about halfway down the left side of the page...

On a sad (tragic) note, the Denver papers yesterday reported that TMP bassist Johnny Schou died of an accidental heroin overdose. He had drug problems in 2007, but had apparently cleaned up. This was the news everyone had feared, but he's gone just the same. The guys were broken up over it, but they are continuing their tour to promote their CD, Madeline.

The overdose is a sad footnote to a sad story of wasted talent; a death by misadventure. I'm sorry for all who knew him. That stuff is there for the taking in that line of work, from top to bottom...and it's a very powerfully addictive and deadly substance. I never did any. I knew I'd like it. Besides, I had enough to deal with already. Heroin was a sure-fire death sentence. Some pull through and are lucky, but they're never the same again. I'm just sorry about him. I can see that a lot of people loved him.

I went to Tickle Me Pink's home page and was astounded at the power, talent and depth of these guys' music. They are fantastic! They'll be here at the Meridian on September 17th. That's a Wednesday and I'll make it over to their show...their tour is grueling for sure...they're playing 4, 5 nights in a row here and there...but that's the name of the game...they're young and they can do it and do it again...they'll look back on these days and smile...

Thanks for the link, I was inspired by their awesome music, BP. WC1

Tomorrow night is the big night... Tickle Me Pink in Baltimore! I get to get off work early. Denise and the kids will pick me up and we will head up there to hang out with Steven a bit before the show and then enjoy the concert. Probably gonna take Steven out for dinner afterward, although the invitation will be extended to all the guys. I'll post on our big night as "celebrity concert insiders" as soon as I can. bp
