The Band - The night they drove old dixie down

Here's where we go to kick back after the races with our pals. Pour a tall one, punch a few buttons on the jukebox, and relax...

The Band was simply the best group that North America ever produced, my humble opinion...my favorite Band album is The Basement Tapes...delayed release for around 8 years but it's a double album that is absolutely jam-packed with beautiful, heart-wrenching songs, both by Dylan and the Band. "Tears Of Rage" is on that album; I don't know if it's on another one, but there's this easy-rolling vibe to the whole deal. "Dixie" was sure enough a masterpiece, every time I hear it it gives me chicken skin...RIP Richard Manuel and Rick Danko. Levon Helm is still going strong...Robbie Robertson is a noted producer, I visited Garth Hudson's website from the link on Levon Helm's website. He still plays but he's semi-retired now...great post, Bob! Cheers, WC1
