I will say this, the sanctioning body's constant desire to trim the time length of the "big show", in order to make it more, ahem, "tolerable" for the novice public is an issue that practically can't be avoided in this modern day and age... While most of us hardcore drag racin' folks appreciate a long running drag strip battle, you can't deny that the show has become too long for the "novice" spectator... Our society has become plagued by a massive and collective case of ADD (Attention Deficit Disorder)-- Most Americans have developed a severe problem with inattentivness (especially our youth)... I just saw a TV commercial the other day, for a new minivan, in the commercial, they show young children sitting in the back seat of the van, playing a game of cards on pull-out tables, while they're also simultaneously watching DVDs play on their own individually positioned TV monitors-- I mean, gee whiz, what happened to the days when kids would be satisfied just looking out the car window and seeing a bird?... Future generations simply aren't going to stand for "all day" racing events, they'll get bored way too easily.-- I think drag racing is really stuck between the proverbial "rock and a hard place" with this modern-day dilemma-- Lots of cars and classes to race, and keeping fingers crossed in hopes that nobody oils the track and makes it necessary for a lengthy clean up... I certainly don't claim to have a "solution" to this "problem", but it is indeed a real problem for national drag racing events, a problem that if it isn't addressed in some form or another, will undoubtedly eventually result in far less novice spectators coming out for a "long day at the drags"... It's a shame that this has become a "problem" that our sport of drag racing is now faced with... The "N.H.R.A." now has to do its best to compensate for the widespread affliction of "A.D.D"... "The Doc" (Celebrity Drag Racing Authority & Visionary)...
