Newbie

Postby moparjim » Sun Feb 20, 2011 8:03 pm

Hi, my name is Jim aka moparjim. My wife and I are huge mopar nuts, we have 10 cars, 5 being done and 5 more "projects". The reason I joined this forum is because of our newest project. It's a 64 belevedere drag car. The quik history of it is, it came from Wisconsin in the 70's, where it was raced as Dream Weaver, and was a black car. Then the owner moved here to Tucson, and car was sold, then it was renamed Gentel Jim(being raced in Phx and Tucson), then sold again and renamed Katydid, painted black and gold.
It ran in Super Street class. In 84, my wifes brothers bought it, where it sat for the next 26 years(yes, 26)in the back yard. Fast forward, we now have it back and are restoring it to its former race condition. The reason for the long read is, I am looking for anyone who knows of this car and it's history. I will have pics soon, but you can to Tucson Dragway photos and look for Katydid.
Thanks for any help.

new guy from SC

Postby warhorse65 » Wed Apr 06, 2011 9:38 am

Im James, I have a wife a just recenlty found out I will be a dad this year also. About the car that I have it is a 65 mustang drag car. From what I have been told it has been a race car almost all its life. My dad used to race it for his friend until he bought the car out in the 70's. He ran a 289 with a top loader back then. I believe he said it would run 12.00's in the 1/4 back in the day. My goal with it now is to get it back to what it used to be. Here is a couple of pics from back when he was racing all the time.
