UPDATE! 12/26/00 - horsepowerheaven.com is happy to be able to
now confirm that the speech given by NHRA Director of Sportsman Racing &
Member Tracks Len Imbrogno at the Division Six awards Banquet December 9
will be posted in both RealVideo and RealAudio format.
A highlight of our annual FotoVideoSpectacular, Imbrogno gives a very
impassioned talk on his views of sportsman racers and NHRA. You'll get a
marvelous feel for what this man is all about, only at horsepowerheaven.com
Midnight New Year's Eve.
This is the image used on the 1972 International Raceway Parks Inc.
Schedule. I believe it is an Emil Neely foto, but with no credit, I cannot
be certain. It is probably from the spring of 1971 and features da Ace,
wheels up, just hazing the tires...very cool indeed.
Taking in Seattle Int. Raceway, Puyallup Raceway Park (just east of
Tacoma) and Deer Park Raceway (16 miles north of Spokane) the drag race
season lasted until late August. Interesting dates that year included the NW
Natl. Open at SIR Apr 29/30, The 3-race all-nitro Olympia All Pro Drags June
3, June 14 & July 15. Puyallup ran AA/FDs Apr. 1 (perfect), the Calif.
vs. Wash. Drag Championships Apr 29, the U.S. Pro Stock Championships
(really?) July 29 and the North American Fuel & Gas Championships Aug.
19. Deer Park's features were the NHRA World Points Meet May 27/28, and the
Coca-Cola Funny Cars Aug. 5. Of note is that all of the one day shows were
night races. Dream on in 2000.
The stuff that's come in so far for the annual New Years Eve
horsepowerheaven.com bash is amazing. No hints but this WILL be our best
ever multimedia extravaganza, a s for the first time it will include video.
Get that high-speed hookup ready as you'll be hammered with neat shit from
fire burnouts to nostalgia stuff that will flip you back in your chair...BUT
we want MORE! I know it's out there so git yur butts in gear and send it in.
This is a non-profit, free deal designed to thank all the people who help
make my site the fun deal it continues to be.
