Things I Remember from the Golden Era

Running nitro through Ford 97 carbs 
Two speed trans 39 Ford box with Zephyr gears 
Dragsters with 96" wheel bases 
The roll bar was a hoop over your head 
The Engineers said the top speed obtainable in a 1/4 mile was 147 
Top eliminator was usually a roadster against a bike 
64 top fuel cars at one track 
Starters with a flag 
When they split the roadster class into two classes, OHV and Flatheads 
Tommy Ivo running a roadster 
The first supercharged fuel burning Chrysler dragster (Otto Rysman, Doug Hartel) 
There were seven drag strips in a 100-mile radius in So Cal 
There were three $1000.00 to win races on each weekend 
Pomona ran every weekend 
The march meet was at Milner Field 
Admission was $.25 and to run your car was $.50 
Chrisman set the top speed record at 149 
C.J. Hart went 148 in the Crower U Fab special (boy that shut down area is rough, the next week it was graded)
