The following is my list of the top 10 Funny Cars of all time.
#1. Don Prudhomme's 1976 "Army" Monza (this ones a no
brainer).
#2. "Jungle Jim's" 1972 Vega... the coolest ever.
#3. That Sachs & Sons Comet that Joel Naprstek probably likes.
#4. John Force's "Castrol Cutlass" -- the one that blew up whenever he lifted in the lights.
#5. Barry Setzer's 1973 Vega. Pat Foster was a killer in this car.
#6. 1969 "Chi Town Hustler" Charger -- changed the funny car act forever.
#7. Don Nicholson's Flip Top Comet -- same reason as above.
#8. The "Ramchargers" '71 Challenger -- first in the sixes.
#9. 1972 "Blue Max" with Richard Tharp at the wheel. One of the best-looking Funnies ever.
#10 Gene Snow's "Rambunctious" Challenger. First over 200, best Funny Car name ever!
Honorable Mentions
Billy Meyer's '82 Firebird... Introduced nitrous to big time nitro racing.
1979 "Custom Body" Arrow... Had us North Easters thinking we might have had the dominant car in the country for a while.
Bruce Larson's USA-1. "Best series of funnies."
