Quick 32 Sportsman Series and Hinbest Racing donate $1000 scholarship
at the Canadian Automotive Institute, Canada’s automotive school of business
Orangeville, Ontario (October 5, 2010) – Earlier this year, Hinbest Racing teamed up with the Quick 32 Sportsman Series, www.Quick32.ca, and the Canadian Automotive Institute to offer a $1000 scholarship package in an effort to give back to the automotive community, and recently the winners of this scholarship were announced.
“Being a Graduate of the Canadian Automotive Institute I am excited to be able to give something back to the school which has instilled so many skills in myself,” said team driver Mike Hinbest.
To top off the weekend, Hinbest graduated with his Honors bachelor of business automotive management degree, and was chosen as the Valedictorian for the 2010 class.
“It was a ton of work between balancing racing and earning my degree, but it was the best choice I ever made and I’m excited to figure out what is next.”
Another unique opportunity that the NAPA Auto Parts Top Dragster team was working on was the “round win for charity” program. For every round win the team earns it donated $50 to the Canadian Cancer Society, and Ideal Supply has graciously decided to match all contributions made by the team. For 2010 the team will be contributed $500 to the Canadian Cancer Society and hope to grow that amount for next year.
“We broke at two events this year in the Quick 32 Sportsman Series and still finished 10th of 37 teams in the Championship Point Award Series presented by NAPA Auto Parts, but like all teams out there we are always trying to improve,” said Hinbest. “Next year we have made some changes to the motor and continue to adjust our car management program that will help our team win.”
“Hinbest Racing is a first class race team, and they are what our Series is all about,” said Bruce Mehlenbacher, Director of Operations for the Quick 32 Sportsman Series and the PMRA (Pro Modified Racing Association). “We appreciate the opportunity and are proud to be able to participate in the scholarship program,” he continued. “It is important to give back to the community, and we are proud of Michael and the rest of the team for their efforts on and off the race track.”
