LAS VEGAS, Nev. (Oct. 26) – The Next Level Suzuki of NHRA Pro Stock
Motorcycle rider Justin Finley will be dressed in pink during this
weekend’s Big O Tires Nationals in Las Vegas as the rookie of the year
candidate lends his support to breast cancer awareness month. It will be
hard for fans in Las Vegas to miss Finley’s 190-mph Suzuki as it now
features a bright pink paint scheme and the ribbons that are a universal
symbol for breast cancer awareness.
Finley got the idea to participate in the promotion after hearing the
inspirational story of breast cancer survivor Kari Neely, the Human
Resources Manger at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. Kari was diagnosed with
breast cancer May 30,, 2008. She is the fourth generation in her family
to fight the disease but is currently in remission. In 2008, Neely
created Team LVMS (Las Vegas Motor Speedway) to raise funds and
awareness. To date, the team has raised more than $20,000, which has
been presented to the American Cancer Society.
“My great-grandmother, grandmother, aunt and I have all battled breast
cancer,” said Neely. “I also have children of my own, and I am
determined to do everything I can to make sure I am the last member in
our family to battle this disease.”
“Shortly after our last event in Phoenix, my team approached me with
the idea to paint the bike pink and take part in breast cancer awareness
month,” said Finley. “Naturally, I thought it was a great idea and
then, after I met Keri and heard her inspirational story, it really hit
home and made me realize that we all need to chip in and do our part to
make cancer a thing of the past.”
Fans attending this weekend’s Big O Tires Nationals in Las Vegas will
have the opportunity to do just that as Team LVMS will be selling pink
ribbons at the front gate. The ribbons will cost $1 each and will be on
display in the winner’s circle following Sunday’s final rounds. All
proceeds will go directly to the American Cancer Society.
