NEOPMA ROCKY DILECCE TAKES INAUGURAL INTERNATIONAL PRO MOD CHALLENGE WIN AND PUTS CANADA’S PMRA UP 1-0 OVER USA’S NEOPMA

09-23-2013 Mechanicsville, MD – The first inaugural “International Pro Mod Challenge” was an overwhelming success with 35 pro mods competing, 8 cars running in the 5.90’s and under and many more running in the 6.0 range. The two sixteen car fields were on kill and MIR was ready to handle it. 2013 [PMRA] Champion Rocky Dilecce and Team had their 68’ Team Metro Pro Mod Camaro ready for action and proved it with an impressive win at the first annual “International Pro Mod Challenge” at Maryland International Raceway this past weekend. Rocky’s consistency was awesome, and [NEOPMA] Team USA’s miscues lead Canada to the Pro Mod Challenge’s first event championship.

After a rain delay that forced the event to be delayed at day, the weather Sunday was perfect. Team Canada had their Pro Mods ready for action. Bruce Boland and Rocky Dilecce moved though the field with impressive runs, with their best times of eliminations a 5.93/246 for Rocky in the second round, and a 5.97/238 for Bruce also in the second round. Jeff Miller and Dave Hance for Team USA facing Bruce and Rocky respectfully gave it their best, but Jeff came up short 6.04/235 with their 57’ that has been in the 5.80’s earlier in the year, and Dave Hance that has a waste gate stick open with a 8.12/111. Team Canada’s Jim bell also had personal bests 5.99 in qualifying, and 5.97 in eliminations. Eric Latino qualified 6th with a 5.997.

Team USA also had many highlights throughout the weekend. Tim O’Hare and team with Bernie tuning shot to number one right off the trailer with a 5.90/244 and held the #1 qualifier spot and bonuses from Goodyear and G-Force Racecars . Dave Hance had the New York Motorsports 57’ Belair running awesome and set the Track MPH record at 251.48 and [NEOPMA] records for ET 5.897, and MPH 251.48. The Northeast Outlaw Pro Mod Association [NEOPMA] was proud to host the first International Pro Mod Event in association with [PMRA] at Maryland International Raceway with one of the largest quarter mile Pro Mod Fields in 2013, qualifying two 16 cars fields, featuring a 16 car ‘International Pro Mod Challenge”. A huge thank you to events sponsors RPM Magazine, New York Motorsports, G-Force Racecars, VP Race Fuels, IFITSGOTAMOTOR.COM, and not to forget our yearly sponsors listed below.

The International Pro Mod Challenge had the look and feel of a National event featuring the fastest door cars in the world, Pro Modified, and judging by the excitement of the fans and forums this event was a huge success, and will grow even bigger next year.

“The last several years have been extraordinary for the NEOPMA at MIR. The fans show their support for the track and racers by filling the stands to standing room only events. This is a testament to the Miller Family and staff for maintaining a great facility, preparing a fast, safe track for out racers and helping build the NEOPMA into the largest quarter mile pro mod series in the country”, states John Mazzorana of the NEOPMA.
