In a Christmas card that Jerry Baltes received came word about the passing of Don Croshier, a partner in the Croshier-Baltes-Lavato and Croshier-Baltes-Leavitt 1964 top fuel cars. A resident of Coronado, Ca., Don’s passing came on February 12, 2013, two days after his 83rd birthday.
Not only was Don part of drag racing’s golden years, he was a successful businessman as well. He owned and operated the #1 Speedy Mart in San Diego, Ca. Speedy Mart later became the world-famous 7-11 Stores. In addition to operating the concession at San Diego Raceway, Don was involved in both residential and commercial real estate that included a strip mall.
Survivors include wife Ella, and daughter Dawn Jacobs.
