2015 NHRA Summit Drag Racing Series, Northwest Division Final Results

WOODBURN TAKES SUMMIT TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP

BOISE, Idaho – Woodburn Dragstrip took home the Team Championship on a tiebreaker over host track Firebird Raceway at the NHRA Summit Racing Series Northwest Division Finals led by David Bronec who won in the Pro division.

Woodburn and Firebird each racked up 71 points as they dominated the Team Championship with Woodburn winning the tiebreaker 13-10 and its 16th overall championship.

Bronec, Hubbard, Ore., and representing Woodburn Dragstrip, knocked out Paul Jordan, Butte, Mont., (Lewistown Raceway) with a stellar 10.482 second lap on his 10.48 dial-in. Both drivers left the line together but Hubbard was better at the strip in his ’72 Nova.

A pair of Pacific Raceway drivers matched up in the Super Pro final with Al Chinn, Auburn, Wash., getting the best of Lane Cavar, Puyallup, Wash. Chinn went 9.780 at 126.67 mph in his ’64 Nova. Cavar was a bit too anxious at the line and left early with a red-light foul start.

Another pair of teammates matched up in the Sportsman final as Brian Seaberg downed Bremerton Raceway teammate Gary Howe Jr. with a 13.747 second pass at 96.05 mph in his ’72 Comet. Howe ran quicker with a 12.394, 104.72 in his ’71 Skylark but Seaberg was closer to the dial and took home the NHRA Wally trophy.

In the Motorcycle class it was Rick Newport of Rocky Mountain Raceways with a near perfect reaction time of .004 seconds to upend Riley Toth of Medicine Hat Dragway. Newport, Bluffdale, Utah, clocked in at 8.378, 147.44 to Toth’s 8.965, 137.93.

Riley’s younger brother Zach also advanced to the final round as the NHRA Summit Jr. Drag Racing League and the Northwest Division Jr. championships were also being contested. Zach, also running for Medicine Hat Dragway out of Alberta, Canada, met up with Yeshua Wilcox, Bonney Lake, Wash., and Bremerton Dragway in the Jr. Lightning division with Wilcox taking the win in 7.876 seconds at 81.30 mph. Zach clocked in at 7.970, 80.65.

In Jr. Thunder it was Tanner Gaetz taking the win for Medicine Hat with a great 8.995 second pass on his 8.99 dial-in to put Cole Dickoff, Maple Valley, Wash., on the trailer. Dickoff, running for Pacific Raceways, ran 12.114, 54.60 mph.
