York 2016: And the Beat Goes On

YORK SPRINGS, PA – The Annual York Reunion will be presented for the fifteenth straight year with the presentation of the York US30 Heritage Days at the Eastern Museum of Motor Racing in York Springs on July 8-9, 2016, as part of the York Nostalgia Weekend which will culminate with the presentation of the 13th York Nostalgia Nationals at Beaver Springs Dragway on Sunday, July 10th.

Opening the activities at EMMR on Friday, July 8th will be the presentation of Bill "Grumpy" Jenkins Day. A tribute to a man who contributed countless foresight to the sport of drag racing. The Grump’s original Grumpy’s Toy IV Camaro will be on display in the museum proper by current owners Dale & Vickie from Pittsburgh along with two other original Grump cars from the Tom Bryan stables in New Jersey. World Champ Larry Lombardo and Ed Hedrick two of the Grump’s later chauffer’s will be in attendance. Lombardo will have a special display of Grumpy items along with Wayne Meli from New Jersey who will pay tribute with additional historical items about "the man". Mike Keough will likewise have a host of Jenkins Competition merchandise available for sale.

The show will encompass the Latimore Valley Fairgrounds with a display of drag racing vehicles from the glory days of drag racing along with a Saturday cruise-in that will feature muscle cars and street rods along with a potpourri of special interest vehicles too numerous to list.

Friday at 5 p.m. the Annual Legion of Honor awards ceremony will be presented in the museum. A class of eight deserving individuals including "Ohio George" Montgomery will be presented their awards and have their names placed upon the perpetual award on display in the museum in perpetuity.

Saturday will feature a "Jere Stahl Roast." Another individual who contributed so much technically to the sport of drag racing. Displays will abound of all kinds of drag racing memorabilia along with model displays that will appeal to the small fry. A special "Glory Days" cruise in will likewise be presented from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. All years welcome. The event benefits the Eastern Museum of Motor Racing.

Sunday, July 10th activities move to Beaver Springs Dragway for the presentation of the 13th Annual York Nostalgia Nationals. Drag racing activities begin at 8 a.m.
