YORK SPRINGS, PENNSYLVANIA – “Miss Hurst Golden Shifter” and commonly known as the First Lady of Motorsports Linda Vaughn will be joining other legends of drag racing on July 8-9, 2016 at the Eastern Museum of Motor Racing during the presentation of York US30 Heritage Days as the first part of the popular York Nostalgia Weekend that is synonymous as the event that has more drag racing legends assembled at one event at one time In the United States over a period of fifteen consecutive years.
The event will be presented at the historic Latimore Valley Fairgrounds and Eastern Museum of Motor Racing facilities. The many legends of drag racing will include “Ohio George” Montgomery, Jere Stahl, Wally Bell, Jon Lundberg “The Voice of Drag Racing,” Bob Harrop, Jim & Alison Lee, Wally Booth and World Champions Bruce Larson and Jim Walther to name a few.
The show will present many of the top drag racing vehicles from the Glory of Days of Drag Racing. The “Great Expectations” top fuel dragster of Jim & Alison Lee, the USA-1 funny car of Bruce Larson, three of Bill “Grumpy” Jenkins’original famous Grumpy’s Toys race cars featuring the ’68 Camaro Grumpy’s Toy IV that won the first two NHRA Pro Stock events back in the day. Also featured will be Jim Walther’s “Special Edition” top fuel entry that carried him to the World Championship along with Penny Flammia, owner. A loaded line-up of Junior Stock entries is also expected to join Butch and Linda Szollosy with their outstanding ’57 Chevy.
Musclecars will be featured on Saturday during the “Glory Days” Cruise-In that will highlight not only muscle cars but street rods, trucks, and special interest vehicles which includes the vintage variety. Linda Vaughn will be presenting the awards on Saturday at 3 p.m. for 1st thru 3rd place in each category and a People’s Choice and Best of Show award.
A popular Cackling Thunder” cacklefest will be held both days when legendary race cars will start-up and provide the music to the race fans ears. Schedule for the start-ups will be posted in the museum lobby.
Activities for the nostalgia weekend will continue on Sunday, July 10th with the presentation of the 13th Annual York Nostalgia Nationals at Beaver Springs Dragway. Drag racing activities begin at 8 a.m.
