NHRA SOUTHEAST DIVISION COMES TO ROCKINGHAM DRAGWAY
ROCKINGHAM, N.C. – Rockingham Dragway will host the NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series Southeast Division on October 27-29. The event is one of the 45 scheduled across the country where drivers in the NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series earn points leading to divisional and national championships as well as a chance at a share of the year-end purse of more than $519,000. Categories include Comp Eliminator, Super Stock, Stock Eliminator, Super Comp, Super Gas and Super Street. The division’s Stotts Ford Top Sportsman Series and Hickory Enclosed Trailer Top Dragster Series will run in conjunction with the event along with Pro Fuel Harleys and a 300 mph Jet Dragster.
Highlighting Saturday’s action is the NHRA Southeast Division Moser Sportsman Shootout, a specialty event where drivers will compete in a dial-in/breakout handicap format on an eighth-mile with a $15,000 cash purse up for grabs. The winner could pocket $5,000 along with a specially designed Moser Sportsman Shootout trophy. Eliminations begin at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday.
Gates at Rockingham Dragway open at 8 a.m. each day. Qualifying and time trials start Friday at 3:30 p.m. and continue Saturday at 9 a.m. Top Dragster, Comp Eliminator and Top Sportsman qualify Friday at 5:30 p.m. and Saturday at 11 a.m. Pro Fuel Harley qualify on Friday at 6:15 and Saturday at 1, 2:30 and 6:30 p.m. followed by the Jet Dragster. Comp Eliminator final qualifying is at 1:30 p.m. and Top Dragster and Top Sportsman final qualifying is at 5 p.m. on Saturday.

NHRA SOUTHEAST DIVISION MOSER SPORTSMAN SHOOTOUT TO HIGHLIGHT SATURDAY’S ACTION AT ROCKINGHAM DRAGWAY
The Southeast Division Moser Sportsman Shootout will highlight Saturday’s racing action at this weekend’s Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series at Rockingham Dragway.
The field of 16 drivers was set through a year-long point’s battle and a year-end wild card drawing. The event presents a unique match of NHRA sportsman racers in Super Stock, Stock, Super Comp, Super Gas, Super Street, Top Dragster and Top Sportsman in head-to-head competition to see who really is the best of the best.
Kevin Brannon and Rusty Cook are both pulling double duty as they are each qualified in two different classes. Brannon will run in Top Dragster, facing off with Casey Spradlin in round one, and will meet up with Cook in round one of Super Comp. Cook is also qualified in Super Gas where he will meet up with John Taylor in round one
The Moser Sportsman Shootout is unique in that racers from the seven entirely different class structures will be racing each other. Eliminations will be in a dial-in/breakout handicap format on an eighth-mile. The Christmas tree will be a full countdown mode with the Cross Talk feature not in use.
A $15,000 cash purse is up for grabs with $5,000 to the winner, $2,000 to the runner-up, $1,000 to each of the semi-finalists, $700 to the quarter-finalists and $400 to each of the remaining event qualifiers.
