Photo Review: 2026 IHRA Outlaw Nitro Series Benson NC

The second season of the IHRA Outlaw Nitro Season debuted this past weekend at Darana Dragway in Benson, NC, for 2026. Four nitro classes highlighted the event along with Pro Mods, Mountain Motor Pro Stocks, and a new small-tire, no time class called Bratz. Photo Highlights provided by Dave Oakes.

Jasmine Salinas’ unreal 3.004 to 660 ft led top fuel qualifying.

Peter Norton continued his hot early-season ways by defeating Jason Harris in the Pro Mod final.

Johnny Pluchino won his first IHRA “Ironman” with his 4.04 defeating Jordan Ensslin in the MMPS final.

Gary Pritchett, driving for Doug Foley, outran an up-in-smoke Salinas in the top fuel final.

Dale Creasy Jr. soloed for the funny car crown when Terry Haddock couldn’t make the final.

Cory Reed took the initial no-time Bratz final over Bill Lutz.

Tony Scott defeated Jason Dietsch on a holeshot 5.06 to Dietsch’s quicker 5.04 in IHRA Pro Stock.

Jason Harris led Pro Mod qualifying at 3.54 – 211.59.

John Smith qualified #1 in Funny Car at 3.241. He was .002 quicker than Del Worsham.

Cody Austin took out #1 qualifier Ryan Hill in the altered final when Hill lit the tires.

Cam Hensley ran strong all weekend. He qualified #3 and put a holeshot on Randy Weatherford for the win.
