Notes: Leonard faced Larry Reyes at LaPlace for a best of five match early in the year. Unfortunately, he lost three straight to the "Kingfish" with a 9.39 best compared to Reyes' 8.97 best. Hughes was at Biloxi on June 4 for a best-of-three-match race with "Dyno Don" Nicholson. During this period, the fiberglass, SOHC-powered Comets were pretty much unbeatable, and Hughes lost three straight. Injected fuel, AWB built by Leonard Hughes. Leonard ran the car in 1965. By the end of 1966, a new Dart was under construction. Memphis 1966 (7/01/66 Drag News).
