Notes: Injected fuel. Ran car on alky at times too. This is the car he ran late in 1965. Later in 1966, he sold the car to Jim Lovett and Winston Lane. Loehr had purchased the Dick Brannan-Hubert Platt long-nosed 1966 Mustang, and finished 1966 and part of 1967 with it. Lovett & Lane ran this pictured car as an A/FC on the UDRA circuit in 1967. Was stll called "Stampede." - DD |

Notes: Injected fuel 427 Cammer, C-6 trans by Art Carr-124" Race Car Specialties chassis, Cal Automotive body. Car was built for Hubert Platt in 1966, finished shortly before he was asked to take over Dick Brannan's new Holman-Moody long-nose Mustang. Sponsor said he couldn't run both. Platt drove his RCS car once before selling it to Loehr. The chassis, sans body, was featured on the cover and 2-page feature of the 10-66 Hot Rod Parts Illustrated. Entire car featured in 5/67 Popular Hot Rodding. - RT | Loehr started 1966 in the 1965 Mustang coupe he ran in 1965. Raced the stretched '66 car through 1967. Car was run as a gas Funny Car in 1969/70 by Flemming & Bertini out of Massachusetts. ET 1966 (5/67 Drag Strip) mph Gary, Ind. 1966 (10/21/66 Drag World) - DD |

Notes: AKA Trouble Maker Too. - DD | Bitten by the funny car bug, Lunati lengthened the chassis of his home-built AM/SP Devin to fit a '65 Corvair, casting the shell himself in fiberglass. The Devin's injected 377" Chevy was retained; the car was said to weigh 1,700 pounds, very light for the day. The car was said to be capable of high 8's. - RT | Lunati faced Preston Honea at Lakeland in September for a best-of-five match race. Joe won the first race with a 9.81/143.71, while in the second race, Honea won with a 9.85/145. But Joe came back to win the next two races and the match with times of 10.09/142.44 and 9.78/147.38. |

Notes: Malone had one of the four FCs at US 30, Gary, Indiana, for a four-car show. The car did not run well. The Mustang got out of shape in his first race, and he shut off against Dean Nicopolis in the "Hemi-Hunter" Camaro. He only made one more run against Roger Lindamood, where he shut down early in a loss to the "Color Me Gone" car. Injected. The car was sold to Drake Viscome. | Malone dropped a best of 3 match race to Gary Dyer on 7/30/67 at Pittsburgh International Dragway. Dyer ran a best of 8.46/173.41, but no times were given for Malone. Malone’s Mustang was advertised as blown, but I’m unable to confirm from a photo in my personal collection. - Julian Roberts |

Notes: Photo from Minnesota Dragways, summer 1970. Steve Manhart and Dick Engel bought Al Fontanini's old car and started running some big numbers on the UDRA Circuit. The 426 Hemi was built by Weimer Machine and Steve drove it to 7.83/184.26. Also ran 8.34/169.81 at Minnesota Dragways 7/70. |
