Notes: Sarge was at Capitol Raceway on August 1st for an eight-car show. In the first round, his 7.02/206.42 beat Al Goodman's 7.22/211. In the semifinal, he ran 7.03/208.32 to drop Eddie Fox's quicker, but later 6.93/214. He faced Lary Bucher in the final, and the car came to the line running on only six cylinders. Larry only needed to run 8.45 for the victory. He won the inaugural event Dixie Classic at Suffolk on 9/13/70, with a best ET and mph of 6.73/222.76. - Paul Broughton. | Also ran 6.79 at Capitol.

Notes: The second car of the season. New S&W piece after the first car crashed. On May 31, the "Frantic Ford" burnt in Boston. The team didn't run until the car was fixed late in June. Its first outing after being repaired came at Englishtown on June 30. While Arciero never reached the final, he did run some 7.1s at 200. Near the end of July, Sarge was at Englishtown when a front tire blew just before the lights. The body lifted, and the chassis made a hard right turn into the guardrail. Arciero was OK, but the car was history as the chassis actually broke in two. This came after the team had been running 7.0s just a few days before. Jim Fox then purchased the '70 "Blue Max" car. Richard Tharp ran it at the IHRA All-American Championships at Bristol on August 29, and after he lost in the semifinals, the car belonged to Fox. Tharp only had to drag the engine back to Dallas, Texas. | New S&W Mustang went 7.0s and ran 200 at Epping in May. Arciero crashed the car at Island, and they put the pictured body on it, which was Tom Grove's 69 body. I have a photo of the car still in grove paint from late 70. - Dennis Doubleday

Notes: Sarge qualified #5 at Gainesville with a 6.630/222.77. He beat Jim Harnsberger in round one, 6.66/226.13 to 6.86/204. In round two, he upset #1 qualifier Don Garlits, 6.63/228.42 to 6.81/188. Sarge took out Jim Paoli in the semis, 7.67/130.05 to 11.89/55. In the final, Jimmy King laid a tremendous holeshot on him and won 6.905/178.57 to Sarge's runner-up effort of 6.803/217.91. Sarge set Top Speed with the 228.42. AKA My Real Estate / Eddie Careccia. Sarge also ran 6.83 at Maple Grove, but Gainesville was his only national event of the year.

Notes: We need to determine when Ted Thomas and Pete Lenhoff sold the car to Jon Asher and Sarge Arciero. Bill Flurer remained with the team. Best NHRA times were both DNQ: 6.310/228.42 at NHRA Indianapolis IN 8/31/75 and 6.380 at the Ontario World Finals (speed not recorded. Also ran 6.49 at Englishtown (non-national event). On September 15, Arciero drove the "Jade Grenade" to victory at Atco for the final NHRA Division 1 race. He had run 6.98/212.26 to beat Bill Van Horn and 6.75/222.22 over Jim Grace's 7.11/196 to reach the final. There he faced Ted Wolf. The two had a great close race in the final that saw Sarge's quick-leaving 6.85/207.85 beat Ted's 6.83/218 for the title.
