Notes: Tommy was driving Gary Richard's Mustang at Maple Grove for an eight-car show in May. His first-round race was very strange. He faced Tim Kushi, and the Mustang lost fire while doing his pre-race burnout. His crew hurried to his aid and refired the car, but Kushi's motor was overheating all this time. The two finally got staged and raced, with Hall's 7.27/197.28 getting the "win" light. But due to his getting burnt down on the line. Tim was reinstated into the semifinal. |

Notes: Doc was in Minneapolis on July 12 for the NHRA Points meet. Doc qualified the little injected 358" Chevy-powered car with an 8.81/175.78. He made it to the final, where he met Tom Hoover, who had set Low ET at 8.34. Halladay got a big jump in the final, and his 8.77/178.22 took the victory over Tom's quicker 8.59/186.13. |

Notes: Finished 6th in Div 5 points. Doc ran 6.86/199.11 at the NHRA Amarillo World Finals. That won first-round over Al Marshall, who hit the guard rail, but he did not race in round two for some reason. That was the only NHRA national event for the team. Also 7.05 at Donnybrooke in 7/72. |

Notes: Halladay was at St. Paul, Minnesota, for a best-of-three-match race against "Flash Gordon" Mineo. In their first race, his 7.00/189.87 lost to Mineo's 6.93/207. In the second race, Doc was late of the line, and his 6.77/209.79 lost to the Vega's 6.90/211. Things did not go well in the final race either as the Pinto broke a fuel pump, and Mineo made a solo run to win the match. Doc set Low ET in qualifying #1 with a 6.96 at the NHRA Divisional race at Cornhusker Raceway in July. He soloed in the first round, but he smoked the tires in the semifinals and shut off to a 10.00/124.65 that lost to eventual winner Don Cain's 7.22/210. Also ran 6.87 at NHRA D5 Omaha NE. |

Notes: In May, the team debuted a new Mustang II at Marion, Ohio, for a match race against Art Ward. Doc was at Bison Dragways in the middle of June for a best-of-three-match race against Arne Swensen. Both had problems in their first race, but Halladay's tire-smoking 9.54/104.65 prevailed over Arne's 14.36. But Swensen came back to win the next two races, and the match at Halladay's best was only 9.87/121.29. [BP - Is this really Arne all the way from the East Coast? I assume that this was actually Carl Swanson in the Cheetah. Confirmation?] |

Notes: Halladay was at Cordova for its World Series of Drag Racing event in August. The race was a two-day affair, and he wasn't there on Friday. He showed up on Saturday. All cars were to make two runs, with the two Low ET cars meeting in the final. His 7.07/223.93 beat a wheelstanding "Jungle Jim" Liberman in his first race. In the second race, he ran 6.71/231.69 over a troubled Bob Pickett in the M/T Grand Am. His ETs were not good enough to advance into the final. Notes: Doc qualified #14 at Pomona for the NHRA Winternationals with a 6.190/235.60. He lost to Roy Harris in the first round, 6.20/238 to 6.36/230.17. That was Doc's only NHRA national event. At Martin, MI, for the PHR race, Doc did not qualify with a 6.54. We need to confirm the 6.05. Former Super Shops car, purchased from Tom Hoover. |

Notes: Former Super Shops car. Doc purchased the car from Tom Hoover after the AHRA Winternats. He qualified #14 at Pomona at 6.123/231.95, and then really came alive on race day. He shocked Craig Epperly in round one, 6.024/238.72 to 6.30/240. In round two, he took out Billy Meyer, 6.104/234.98 to 6.18/238. Eventual winner Al Segrini got to Doc in the semis, however, 6.21/239 to 7.927/199.55. At the NHRA Gatornationals, Doc was the fourth alternate at 6.227/233.16. That was his last NHRA national event of the year. |

Notes: Halladay started the '84 season at Tucson for the AHRA Winternationals. Unfortunately, he failed to qualify for the eight-car field. Later in the season, he was at St. Louis for the AHRA Gateway Nationals. It was another eight-car show, and his 6.26/235 qualified on the "bump." He lost early in eliminations. Doc then ran his one NHRA event of the season, Brainerd. He qualified #15 at 6.047/243.24. Doc lost to Kenny Bernstein's 5.90/241 in round one, despite improving to 6.037/246.57. |
