Notes: Dan attempted to qualify at Lions for an eight-car show on February 9, but his 7.65 best was good for the fifth alternate spot. Seattle held an eight-car show on April 13 and Higgins qualified on the "bump" with a 7.78/210.28. He beat Dick Kalivoda's ailing car in round one, with a 7.33/213.28. In the semifinals, he ran a solo 7.43/212.26 to advance to the final. He faced Bob Mitchell in the final and Bob fouled handing the win to the "Green Dragon." Dan was at Bremerton Raceway for its Fuel Dragster Invitational on May 4. He set Low ET of the meet in qualifying #1 for the eight-car show with a 6.87. But in the first round, he fouled away a 6.88/216 against Herm Petersen. Dan was back in Bremerton on June 1 for the second NHRA Division 6 race. He qualified #3 with a 6.73/220.58 and lasted until the semifinals where he fouled away a 6.82/217.90 against Jerry Ruth. One week later (June 8), he was in Seattle for the Travelon's Fuel Championships. He lost to a holeshot by Glen Foster in the first round, with Foster's 7.48 beating his quicker 7.38/209.30.
