(That run did not occur in 1989, as his best times were 7.376 at Ennis and 186.14 at Houston). Notes: Ingersoll had made history by being the first to qualify a Buick at an NHRA National Event when he qualified at the '89 Chief Nationals. He and his team had the Regal running even better in '90. They had Sam Gianino building their engines, and he had found some horsepower over the Winter, which translated to about a tenth on the track. Buddy started the season by running a 7.36/186.91 to qualify #11 at Pomona for the Winternationals. In the first round, he fouled, running a 7.59/185.79 while losing to Mark Pawuk. He failed to qualify at the Arizona Nationals due to clutch problems, but a career-best 7.331/186.37 qualified #14 at Houston for the Supernationals. Once again, he fouled in round one, this time running a 7.45/184.80 in his loss to Bob Glidden. Buddy just made the field at the Gatornationals with a 7.39/186.37 for the #16 spot. A first-round 7.37 caught Jerry Eckman napping with a quicker 7.27. Both he and Glidden ran 7.36's in round two, but Glidden got there first. The best NHRA times of 1990 were 7.331 at Houston Spring and 187.93 at Sonoma.

Notes: Buddy was a DNQ, 20th overall, with a best of 7.38/186.79) at NHRA Houston Spring. He was the third alternate at Memphis for the NHRA Mid-South Nationals with a 7.43/186.29. He also failed to qualify at Columbus for the NHRA Springnationals, where he was the second alternate at 7.40/185.45. Buddy did not make the trip to Canada for the NHRA Grandnationals, but he was at Englishtown early in July for the NHRA Summernationals. Unfortunately, he was the sixteenth alternate at 7.42.
