Notes: Chuck qualified #27 with the new Logghe Bros. car at Pomona at 7.230/212.74. He won round one over Kelly Brown, 7.00/202.70 to 7.10/213.27, despite a massive engine explosion. Chuck could not show for round two, sending Leroy Goldstein to an 8.01/136.98 solo. That was the last NHRA national event for the team this year. | The paint was not even dry on the car when they went to Pomona. A huge explosion in round two sawed the car in half. Notes: Chuck was at Tri-City in May for an eight-car show. Seventeen cars showed for the eight spots, and Chuck qualified #1 with a track record 6.66. In the first round, he beat Dick LaHaie with a 6.70/218.44. Chuck was the third alternate at the NHRA Summernationals at 6.974. Chuck qualified #18 at Indy at 6.566/224.43. He fouled against Steve Carbone in round one, wasting a nice 6.62. That was his last NHRA national event of the year.
