Notes: He was the man to beat in Northern California in 1951. He principally raced at the New Jerusalem Air Strip in Tracy. He was the fastest entrant at Tracy on March 25 with 100 mph. On April 15 at Tracy, competing in the 1927 and older roadster class, he took a win with 100 mph. On April 22 at Tracy, he turned 107.52 mph during time trials and clocked 103.09 mph during eliminations. Notes: Lynde was a mechanic at an imported car dealership in Los Gatos. Competing in D Roadster, he had some tough competitors with the likes of Fritz Voigt, Calvin Rice, Joaquin Arnett, and Jack Chrisman. On Jan. 27 at Kingdon, Lynde beat Ray Righetti in a match race when the latter spun out. Lynde was timed in 123.28 mph. At Santa Ana on Feb. 3, he set a new track record for D/R with 127.80 mph. That was also a new state record for modified roadsters. On Feb. 10, he got the meet's top time of 120 mph at Kingdon. On Feb. 17 at Kingdon, he notched the meet's top speed with 115.38 mph, hampered by a stiff wind. Racing in Class F for modified roadsters, Lynde got the fastest time of the day on Mar. 30 at Fresno Air Strip with 119.04 mph. That was good for a new strip record. At the Fresno Air Terminal races on Sep. 28, Lynde got the meet's fastest speed for a car with 116.27 mph. At Santa Ana on Oct. 5, he took the D/R class with 115.86 mph.
