Notes: Ron qualified #10 in the 32-car field at Pomona for the NHRA Winternationals. A 7.093/218.44 got him the spot. Unfortunately, he blew his engine on the line in the opening round. He also ran 7.087 at the Bakersfield March Meet 3/68. On August 17, Lions held a four-car Top Fuel show. Ron's 7.10/217.38 failed to make the field. The team ran at NHRA Indy and qualified #23 at 7.011/224.42. Ron beat Stan Shiroma in round one, 7.200/221.12 to a foul, but shut off against Leroy Goldstein in round two.

Notes: Is this the Cerny, Lins & Manke Top Fuel in 69? Ran 7.15 at Riverside Raceway Hot Rod Championships in 1969. Ran 6.76 at Lions. | Manke was driving the "Cerny, Manke & Lins" car at Irwindale on May 3. He qualified #2 with a 6.84/230.17 (Top Speed) and a first-round 6.78 (Low ET) beat Larry Dixon. In the semifinals, he ran over the lights and was disqualified giving Gary Cochran a free trip into the final. Ron was at Lions on May 10 for an eight-car show. He had set Top Speed at 229.59 in qualifying. In the first round, he beat James Warren's 7.02/213 with a 6.81/227. In the semifinal, Manke's 6.96 beat Gary Cochran's quicker 6.93. He faced Larry Dixon in the final and gave him a good race, but his 6.90/226.70 lost to Dixon's 6.84/217 and he had to settle for the runner-up money.

Notes: Ron qualified #7 at the Bakersfield March Meet with a 6.89. In the opening round, his 7.10/201.80 lost to Al Pehrson's 6.95/216. Near the end of March, he was at OCIR for its final All-Pro race. He set Top Speed of the meet during qualifying with a 229.59. He lost fire after his burnout in the first round, and his opponent, Tom Larkin, soloed. On April 11, he qualified #1 for an eight-car show at Irwindale with a 6.88/229 (Top Speed). In round one, he smoked the tires and shut off, losing to Kelly Brown. He was back at Irwindale on May 2 for another eight-car show. His 6.90/226.70 (Top Speed) qualified second to Norm Wilcox's 6.85/207. Manke improved to 6.81/225.56 while defeating Bob Ivett in round one. But in the semifinal, he fouled against Jim Dunn.
