Notes: Jack Wayre, a Garden Grove car dealer, fielded two almost identical A/FD cars in 1964. Longshot I had a blown Chevy with a 138-inch wheelbase, while Longshot II used a blown Chrysler and had a 151-inch wheelbase. John Mulligan primarily drove both cars in 1964. Lions Drag Strip promoted a race between the two cars on Mar. 27, 1965. They advertised that Glen Ward would come out of retirement to drive the longer-wheelbase Longshot car, but as the race got closer, Glen's wife said no to that idea. He had been in too many accidents in his career (over 17 broken bones in his foot and ankle), and she said she was tired of it. So Glen got the very capable Dave McKenzie to take his place. Ward, Wayre, Mulligan, and McKenzie put fresh Chrysler motors in both cars, giving a new name to the smaller wheelbase car-Big Shot.
