Notes: McLennan ran in B/FD through July, at which time he mounted a blower on his Chevy and ran in A/FD for most of the remainder of the season. He may have gone back to running in B/FD for a race at Fremont on Dec. 6, but that is not certain. On Apr. 12 at Vaca Valley, he set a Drag News world record time of 9.18. His 9.04 time set at Half Moon Bay on May 24 stood as a world 1320 Drag News world record in B/FD for most of the year. Notes: For the first half of the season, McLennan ran in B/FD, but in August, he mounted a blower on his Chevy and ran in A/FD for most of the remainder of the year. At Half Moon Bay on Sep. 13, he took Top Eliminator in his blown Chevy with 9.12 at 163.63 mph. At the 2-day meet at Kingdon on Sep. 19/20, he took runner-up in Top Eliminator to Chuck Gireth with 9.14 at 165.87 mph. He was recognized as being the fastest fuel Chevy dragster in the country.
