Notes: Miller was at Bristol in June for the IHRA Springnationals. Unfortunately, he ended up as the fourth alternate with a 7.20/191.04 best. He also failed to qualify at New York International, where his 7.39/189.07 was the eighth alternate for the IHRA Empire Nationals. In July, he went to Maryland International for its Mountain Motor Nationals. A 7.22/191.69 qualified #10. Miller's 7.26/190.55 beat Charlie Garrett in the first round, but the race was rained out after the opening round of eliminations. Late in August, Ron was at Norwalk for the IHRA World Nationals. His 7.47/188.63 was the thirteenth alternate.

Notes: Ron attempted to qualify at Darlington for the IHRA Winternationals, but his best run of 7.13/194.80 left him the seventh alternate. He did better at IHRA's second event, the Dixie Nationals at the 1/8 Mile Carolina Dragway. There he qualified #11 with a 4.59/155.27. A 4.65/154.37 lost to Robert Patrick's 4.55/143 in the first round. He was at Bristol early in June for the IHRA Springnationals, where his 7.17/191.69 best left him as the sixth alternate for the show. Ron also failed to qualify at Alabama for the IHRA Supernationals, where he was the fourth alternate with a 7.13/194.34 best. In the first round, John Konigshofer fouled against him and he advanced with a 6.80/204.63. In round two, both he and opponent Pete Berner ran 6.85 (Miller at 203.61), but Ron got the win light. But another 6.85 at 203.85 in the semifinals lost to eventual winner Angelo Alesci's 6.79/203. The next race was the IHRA North American Nationals at Epping.
