He ran a best of 4.31/317.40 which was the highest speed recorded on British soil at that time. - Trackbytes, Guinness Book of Car Facts and Feats) | UK Drag Racing Hall of Fame cites Sammy going 3.94 in Florida in 1979. Notes: While searching for some other slides today these of Sammy Miller's reworked 'Vanishing Point' Vega popped into view taken by Peter Jones at the 1980 Whitsun Big Go meeting: the only appearance Sammy made at Santa Pod that year. With a fresh paint scheme and a rebuilt chassis Sammy put in four runs over the weekend of 4.97/234, 4.64/294 and 4.60/277. His final run was the quickest at 4.53/289.38. - Jerry Cookson

Following a low five-second pass Sammy put Vanishing Point into the field, as he had done previously when stopping became an issue. Ever the showman, he worked overnight to make sure he could run again on the Sunday. - UK Drag Racing Hall of Fame | Sammy ran at this one event before being killed in a work related accident in the Texas oil fields.
