Notes: Ron Mizell was one of 30 drivers at Pomona attempting to qualify for the NHRA Winternationals sixteen-car field. He ran a career-best (to this point) 7.09/183.96 in qualifying. He came back out to make another run, and the car got sideways and ended up crossing lanes and crashing into the retaining wall.
