Notes: At the IHRA Springnationals, Charlie qualified thirteenth with a 7.81/178. He fouled against Bob Glidden in the first round. In early July, he ran well at Milan, Michigan, for the IHRA Northern Nationals. Charlie won his opening round race easily enough, and his 7.70 beat Sam Carroll in the second round. He lost to Rickie Smith in the semi-final in an all-T-Bird battle. In early August, he went to Edgewater for the IHRA Summernationals, he ran really well, qualifying #4 with a 7.64, and in the first round, he got out of shape but still won when Alan Marsh crossed the centerline. In the second round, his 7.70/180.36 beat Joe Lepone Jr. He fouled against eventual winner Smith in the semi-final. Shortly after that, he was at Norwalk for the IHRA World Nationals. His 7.66/181.45 qualified #7, and he beat Jerry Janota in the opening round of eliminations. Unfortunately, he lost to Smith in round two. In September, at the IHRA US Open at Rockingham, he qualified sixth with a 7.57.

Notes: Charlie was in St. Louis on June 22 for the IHRA Gateway Nationals. He qualified #9 with a 7.55/184, and in the opening round, he beat Bob Olson. He fouled against the eventual winner Bob Glidden in round two. The IHRA Northern Nationals was held at Milan on July 6, and Peppers ran 7.57/186.33 to qualify #12. In the first round, his 7.62/185.18 lost to Rickie Smith's 7.44/191. Shortly after that (July 20), he was at Edgewater for the IHRA Summernationals. A 7.65/182.55 qualified #13. But in round one, he lost to Darrell Alderman. He went to Martin, Michigan, on August 3 for the PHR Championships. Notes: Peppers qualified #13 with a 7.06/196.63 at the IHRA Winternationals. A first-round 7.16/195.31 lost to Tim Nabors' 7.00/198. At the second IHRA event of the season, the 1/8 mile Bama Nationals, a 4.61/155.52 was good for tenth alternate. He attempted to qualify for the IHRA Fallnationals at Bristol, but a best of 7.13/194.30 was only good for second alternate. That was it for IHRA in '93. Peppers didn't race at any other IHRA races that year.

Notes: Peppers debuted his new Haas built Mustang at New York International for the IHRA Empire Nationals in July. He qualified #7 with a 7.05/196.24, but in the first round, he went into severe tire shake and shut off to 8.47/109.84 in a loss to John Nobile's 7.07/197. He skipped the IHRA Mid-America Nationals at the Nebraska Motorplex, but he was back on the tour for the World Nationals at Norwalk. Charlie's 7.03/196.50 qualified #11. In the first round, he fouled away a 7.18/195.27 against Jerry Yeoman.

Notes: While Ford's won all the IHRA Pro Stock events in '99 except one, the popular choice for the drivers was the Probe. Peppers was the only one running that competed in a Mustang. He started the season at Darlington for the IHRA Winternationals in March. Unfortunately, he ended up as the first alternate at 6.72/204.60. He did better at Bradenton near the end of the month for the IHRA Amelie Nationals, where his 6.79/202.15 qualified #13. His 6.84/202.90 beat Tim Nabors in the opening round, but in the second round, his 6.86/201.43 fell to eventual winner Floyd Cheek's 6.77/205. The next race was the IHRA Springnationals held at Rockingham. Peppers' 6.82/201.43 qualified #11, and in the first round, his 6.87/202.88 lost to Nabors' 6.84/203. The next race on the IHRA schedule was the Summernationals held at Cordova. Peppers once again qualified #13 at 6.81/204.88. In round one, a 6.86/203.28 lost to Cheek's 6.84/204. In New York, he qualified #15 for the IHRA Empire Nationals with a 6.89/202.76. He faced Steve Spiess in the opening round, and his 6.88/204.17 lost to Steve's 6.74/204. At the beginning of August, he was at Stanton for the IHRA Northern Nationals. He qualified #12 with a 6.87/200.56. He was a good tenth off the leaders, and in round one, he ran another 6.87 at 201.79 in a loss to Ron Miller's 6.80/204. A 6.86/202.94 qualified on the "bump" at Norwalk for the IHRA World Nationals, forcing him to run low qualifier, John Montecalvo. Charlie knew that he had to "push" the tree, and he did. But he pushed too hard as he got the red light. His 6.82/203.86 would have been hard-pressed to catch John's 6.71/207. He did not run in New England for the IHRA North American Nationals, but he was at Rockingham for the IHRA Autumn Nationals. There, his 6.77/205.10 qualified #14. A 6.82/204.22 advanced in round one when Miller got out of shape and almost smoked the wall. In round two, he fouled away a 6.85/204.68 against Dwayne Rice's 6.77/205. 1999 IHRA Northern Nationals, Stanton, MI. Qualified 12th at 6.87/200.
