Notes: Fred was in New England in July for an eight-car show. He qualified #6 with a 7.58/169. It may have seemed show, but traction was hard to come by. Raymond Beadle, the "Frantic Ford," and the "Alabamian" all failed to better the 7.86 "bump." When Kosty Ivanof broke, Bickford's 7.87/196 advanced in the opening round. In the semifinals, his opponent, Jimmy King, went into a wheelstand, and Fred ran 8.72/100 to go into the final. There he faced low qualifier, Al Segrini. Both of Al's runs in eliminations were in the 6.5's, so he definitely had the edge. Sure enough, a final round 6.37/223 beat Fred's 8.16/187.
