Notes: Ron Rivero was from Pomona, CA then moved to PA in what year?; In July 1963, Rivero was still living in Pomona. He held the national record at 8.28 at 192.00 mph prior to running at the NHRA regional meet at Arlington in early July 1963. Rivero was still living in Pomona as late as Oct. 1963. Rivero shared driving duties with Norm Weekly, but Rivero was driving at the Arlington race. The car held the Number 5 place on the national Mr. Eliminator list. On Oct. 20 at Pomona, they were scheduled to defend their Number 5 spot against Kenny Safford. At that time, Weekly was solidly in the driver's seat, Rivero kept the chassis in safe-running order, Fox handled the engine, and Holding was the business manager. On April 21, 21 cars attempted to qualify for the sixteen-car field at Pomona for the Pro Circuit race. Rivero qualified, but his first-round 7.90/202.79 lost to Tom McEwen's 7.76/196. Ron won the Jackpot Circuit race at Santa Maria on May 1. He qualified #1 with a 7.93/200.88 and then got the "odd-lot" solo in the opening round and made an easy pass. In the semifinals, his competition lost fire on the line, and once again, he made an easy run to advance (13.47/49.72). Rivero proved that he did not have to take it easy to win; in the final, he won while setting Low ET and Top Speed with a 7.88/207.88. Surprisingly, he failed to qualify for the eight-car show at Carlsbad's Jackpot Circuit race the following week on May 6, but the next weekend, his 7.91 qualified #7 at an eight-car show at Irwindale. Unfortunately, he fouled against Jim Dunn in the first round. On June 11, Rivero was at Lions for an eight-car show. He qualified #4 with a 7.62/204.54, and a 7.90/198.66 beat Jerry Bivens in the first round. He lost to Dave Beebe in the semifinals. Ron qualified #3 at the HRM Championships at Riverside on June 19 with a 7.39/217.90. He went on to set Top Speed of the meet at 221.66 and got into the final by running a 7.43/217.38 in the semifinal over Ken Safford's 7.77/201. McEwen's 7.39/202 put an end to the fun for Rivero in the final. Tulsa hosted the Division 4 points race on July 3, and Ron ran a 7.68/203.32 Low ET of the meet in the first round, but lost to Wayne Burt's 7.76/200 pass. He was at Dragway 42 on August 21 for the NASCAR Summer Championships. It was a sixteen-car field, and he lasted until round two before losing to Connie Kalitta. The team did not enter any NHRA national events in 1966.

Notes: Rivero started his season at Beeline Dragway in January for the AHRA Winternationals. He qualified #11 in the 32-car field with a 7.81. In the opening round, Ron pulled a huge holeshot on Marvin Schwartz. His 8.01 held on to win over Marvin's quicker 7.86. He fouled against Bob Downey in round two. The team was a DNQ at NHRA Pomona. Shortly after that (February 19), he was one of 70 Top Fuel drivers that showed up at Bakersfield attempting to qualify for the 32-car field. His 7.44 qualified on the "bump." In the first round, his 7.93/193.54 fell to Larry Faust's 7.64/164. Ron then went to Carlsbad on March 5, where 23 cars attempted to qualify for the eight-car field. Rivero's best of 7.38/205.46 failed to make the show. Ron qualified #17 at NHRA Indy, running 7.117/215.30. He won round one on a holeshot over Chuck Kurzawa, 7.242/220.58 to 7.409/222.22. He then won round two (no time) when Bub Reese fouled away a 7.41/185. Ron did not show against Tom McEwen in round three. Ron ran 7.12/213 at Epping NH 11/67. The car was offered for sale (less engine) in 10/27/67 Drag Times. Ron was the 1967 NASCAR World Points Champ.

Notes: The K&G car still ran the small 354 Hemi in '68. It was surprising as most were switching from the 392 to the 426. But Jim Fox said he had found the right combination with the 354. When he had run the 426 with Norm Weekly behind the wheel, he was always experimenting. The small Hemi used a Neil Leffler blower that ran between 15% and 23% overdrive depending on track conditions. The injection was by Enderle. Rivero had his best season ever in '68. He ran well at the AHRA Winternationals running and a 7.29/215.30 in the first round, over Jerry Boldenow, but he could not return for round two. He was the third alternate at the NHRA Pomona Winters at 7.299/218.44. At the PDA Championships at OCIR on March 3, he ran as well as 6.98, but he again failed to reach the finals. Ron won the big Bakersfield March Meet. A 6.97 qualified #5, and he beat James Warren in the semifinals before soloing for the win when Leroy Goldstein failed to fire in the final. On March 17, he was at LaPlace for its '68 Opener. Rivero qualified #1 in the eight-car field with a 7.08. A first-round 7.26 beat Cliff Smith's AA/D. In the semifinals, he ran LaPlace's first "six," a 6.96/216.34 over Kerry Mackenroth. He won the race with a final round 7.04/217.90 over Dave Chenevert. He then set the track record at Cecil County (7.02), Maple Grove (7.12), Delmar (7.06/219.50), and Island Dragway in a best of three match race against "Sneaky Pete" Robinson. Rivero won the match two straight and took both ends of the track record at 7.15/215. Another win came on May 17 at Norwood's 1/8 Mile Championships. Rivero qualified #3 with a 5.03, but he picked up to a 4.93/168.53 in the first round to beat Don Roberts' gas-burner. Jimmy King fouled against him in the semifinals, and Ron ran a 5.08/138 to advance into the final. In the final, he faced off against low qualifier Mike Danylo in Fred Forkner's "Quarterhorse." Rivero set a track record 4.73 at Top Speed of the meet 172.7 to get the win over Mike's 5.22/155. On June 1, Rivero had a best-of-three-match race at Maple Grove against Don Prudhomme, who was making his first eastern appearance of the year in the "Shelby Super Snake." In their first race, Ron's 7.50/204.54 beat the "Snake's" 7.67/153. In the second race, Rivero pulled out ahead by a full car length, and he continued to stretch it out, running 7.45/193.54 to beat Don's troubled 8.02/134. At the NHRA Summernationals at Englishtown, Ron qualified #8 at 6.963/218.44. In round one, he beat Al Friedman, 7.051/215.30 to 7.37/106, but lost in round two to John Mulligan, 6.65/232 to 6.993/216.34. New England held a for the NED Yankee Fueler Final. It was an eight-car show, but 28 cars showed. The K&G team was experimenting with a new Hilborn injector unit rather than the Enderle unit that they had used all season. It obviously did well, as Rivero qualified #1 with a 7.05/221.70. He improved to a 6.91/221.66 to beat Bernie Schaker's 8.30/116. He set a track record 6.86 at 222.76 in the semifinal to defeat OJ McKinney, who blew a rear end. In the final, he ran 7.27/220.58 for the victory over Phil Miller's shut-off 9.09/91. Ron ran a highly suspect 6.40 at the NHRA D1 Meet at York, PA, on 8/09/68. Formerly listed a 6.71 best for this year.

Notes: Ron won a big match race over Jim Liberman at Atco on April 13. He lost the first race despite setting a 200.44 track record that lost to Liberman's out-of-shape 8.34/172.41. He won the last two races with an 8.06/187.10 and a 7.81/196.50. He raced Liberman's #2 car driven by Clare Sanders on May 4 at Richmond for a best-of-three match. This time the "Jungle Jim" team came out on top. In the first race, Ron smoked the tires to an 8.08/186.72, which lost to Clare's track record 7.77 at 191. In the second race, the Mustang won with an 8.03/185.18 over the Nova's 8.13/187. On the last run, both set track records, Sanders won with a new 7.74 record at 192, while Rivero's 8.00 at a 197.36 track record lost the match. On May 17, he faced Gary Dyer at York US 30, but Dyer won two straight when Ron got crossed up in the first race and lost a transmission in the second race. Ron faced Charlie Allen at a match race at Connecticut on August 24, and although he won the first race with a 7.96/159.29 over Allen's broken Dart, his car was not performing this day. Charlie beat him in the next two rounds taking the match race victory with a 7.73 and a 7.84 over Ron's 8.55/170.45 and 8.04/178.57. Ron raced at Suffolk on September 7 in an eight-car show where all cars made three runs. In his first race, Lew Arrington's 7.56/191 beat his close 7.60/173.74.
