Notes: Sanchez did not race at Pomona for the NHRA Winternationals, but he was at Gainesville for the NHRA Gatornationals. Unfortunately, with 46 cars attempting to qualify for the sixteen-car field, his 7.928 (speed not reported) failed to make the show. He also failed to qualify at Atlanta for the NHRA Southern Nationals with a best of 7.950/173.74. Frank was the second alternate at the Cajun Nationals with an 8.020/171.75. He also finished outside the field at the Summernationals (times not available). That was Frank's last NHRA national event for the year. Photo from 1985; need a 1984 photo.

Notes: Frank qualified for his first NHRA National event at Pomona for the NHRA Winternationals. He had run 7.72 and 7.75 in qualifying, and the 7.72 at 179.21 held up for the #11 spot in the show. Unfortunately, he lost to Don Coonce in the first round. After running so well there, it was surprising that he failed to qualify at the NHRA Gatornationals, where his 7.78/178.64 best was good for the first alternate. He followed the NHRA tour to Atlanta for the Southern Nationals, but he failed to make the show again. His 7.85/176.40 was the fifth alternate. He went to Baton Rouge for the NHRA Cajun Nationals, and during qualifying, he made slight contact with the guardrail. Sanchez got it fixed and managed to qualify on the "bump" with a 7.76/181.81. In the first round, he got out of shape and shut off to 9.70 in a loss to Ken Dondero. The NHRA Springnationals had 34 cars attempting to qualify for the sixteen-car field. Frank tried hard, but his 7.81/177.79 best was good for the fifth alternate. He was the second alternate in Canada for the NHRA Grandnationals.

Notes: Frank was the tenth alternate for the NHRA Winternationals at 7.660/180.28. At the Gatornationals, his 7.581/183.15 was the fifth alternate. In Atlanta, he was the 13th alternate at 7.652/182.33. An off-pace 8.051/176.53 was the second to last alternate at Baton Rouge, and a 7.725/177.47 finished mid-pack of the alternates ta Columbus.
