Notes: Seaton had initially planned on running a '59 Olds motor in his roadster, but as it wasn't ready, he instead used a '49 Cadillac engine that was loaned to him by Jack Hathaway. It turned 125 mph on its first time out. On Jan. 18 at San Luis Obispo, he took a win in the A/R class with 12.75 at 116.12 mph. At San Luis Obispo on Mar. 15, he got a trophy for the best-looking car and crew. On July 5 at Santa Maria, he had the misfortune of breaking second gear in a morning time trial run. In August, he towed his car to Los Angeles so Dean Moon could fit it with the 500-inch '59 Olds engine. It was hoped that it would be ready for the U.S. Nationals in Detroit, but Moon felt that it needed some local track time for testing and tuning. Notes: Dave was at Edgewater in April for the first race of the newly formed NHRA Pro-Am Circuit. Twelve cars car the first round, with the four Low ET cars advancing into the semi-finals. His 7.08/196.93 beat Dick Malone's 7.64/181. His time was good enough to gain an entry into the final four. His opponent, Tom Trisch, lost a blower belt on the line, and Sebring made a 6.96/197.80 solo. In the final, he went up against Kevin Siebert's Starfire, and Kevin had just set Low ET in his semi-final win with a 6.93. But the Olds broke a transmission in the final, and Dave soloed for the victory with a strong 6.95/200.44. AKA Tree City Shaker.
