Notes: Sid qualified #14 at Columbus for the NHRA Springnationals with a 6.14/212.26. In the opening round of eliminations, he soloed with a 6.39/185.95 when Marvin Schwartz had to shut off on the line with a fuel leak. But in the second round, Seeley gave Clive Skilton a solo pass into the semifinals when his car failed to fire. On July 31, Bill was at Dragway 42 for the AHRA Grandnationals. He qualified #7 with a 6.90/175.43 but a problemed 10.03/86.37 in the opening round lost to Dick LaHaie's 6.42/202. He did much better at Atlanta International for the IHRA Nationals the following week (August 7). He lasted until the semifinals before his shut-off 8.89 lost to eventual winner Don Garlits' 6.21. His next stop was at Martin, Michigan, for the PHR Championships. Unfortunately, his day didn't last long there as he lost to Paul Romine in round one. Another first-round loss came at the IHRA US Open at Rockingham, where he broke against Garlits. Sid ran 11.34 for the final alternate position at NHRA Indianapolis IN 9/77.
